WALKING FOOTBALLERS REQUIRED!

7 March 2016

Festival taking place in early April

Northampton Town's Cobblers in the Community are looking for men aged 50+ to take part in an upcoming walking football festival. The event, delivered in partnership with Northamptonshire FA and the Football League Trust, will be held on Saturday 2nd April from 11am – 1pm at Thomas Becket Catholic School in Northampton (NN3 6HT).

Participants will ideally be new to walking football and interested in lacing up their boots again to get involved in this fast-growing format of our national game.
The event is limited to the first 30 players to sign up, with places allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. The fee to take part will be £3 per person, payable on the day.

On arrival, players will be split into one of six teams and will play a series of short friendly matches against their fellow new players in a 5-a-side format. At the conclusion of the fixtures, the overall winners will progress as Northampton Town FC’s representative team for the regional finals against other Football League clubs in May.

Stuart Smith, Football Development Officer for Northants FA, is looking forward to the event. He said “We are looking forward to meeting lots of new players to this exciting event. We hope the Cobblers fans are inspired enough by the excellent form of the men’s first team to lace up their boots and get playing again!”
