CHRIS WILDER READY TO BE TESTED BY 'OUTSTANDING' AFC WIMBLEDON

1 March 2016

The Cobblers boss on Northampton Town v AFC Wimbledon

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder is under no illusions how tough Tuesday night’s home game against AFC Wimbledon will be.

“Wimbledon’s form has been outstanding since the turn of the year and it’s a game we are really looking forward to,” he said.

“I’ve got a lot of respect for Neal Ardley and their team and the strikers they’ve got both in the team and on the bench are going to be a real handful so we have got to defend properly.

“We weren’t at our best on Saturday but Hartlepool were excellent and I congratulated their manager afterwards because I thought that was possibly one of the toughest games we had in our winning run.

“Over a nine month season there will be games where you are not at your best and for one reason or another any team in any division is sometimes not quite there.

“We lacked a bit of energy and a spark and our play wasn’t as fluent as it has been but credit to Hartlepool they made it difficult for us to break them down.

“We have set high standards and we’d like to win every game but after Saturday we are a point closer to where we want to be.”
