The Cobblers boss on Carlisle United v Northampton Town

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder previews Saturday’s trip to Carlisle.

“It’s a special season for us and it’s one everybody should be embracing,” he said.

“To win ten games of football on the spin at any level is an outstanding achievement, that’s gone now but we’ve picked up two important points this week.

“Those points are vital, we’ve stretched our lead and I don’t see any team sticking ten wins on the bounce between now and the end of the season.

“There are going to be some tough games coming up for everybody but we can’t get away from the fact that we are in a fantastic position and the teams below us are going to have to go on big runs to catch us.

“We’ve set our sights to go up and of course you want to be the best team in the league but anything can happen. I don’t see us having a dip, I’m not seeing any nervousness or apprehension in our play, we’re going for it and we’re enjoying this situation.

“You have to savour and enjoy times like this, we’ve got a good group of players who are really going for it and we are really looking forward to the rest of the season.

“Tuesday night’s game had everything and that’s what people come to see, two good teams having a right go.

“We are cramming people in here at the minute and if we keep producing performances like we have been then I think supporters will be getting full value for money.

“It was a tough game against Carlisle earlier in the season and I’m expecting another tight game on Saturday. They’ve got a good manager, a good group of players and they are in a good position to strike for the play-offs.

“You have to overcome the challenges put in front of you and we are going to have to overcome another tough challenge on Saturday.”
