ROB PAGE THE KEY TO REVELL CHOOSING SIXFIELDS

16 June 2016

Striker impressed by new Cobblers boss

Northampton Town striker Alex Revell says the chance to work with manager Rob Page was the driving force behind his move to Sixfields.

Earlier this week, Revell penned a 2 year deal effective from July 1st, and said that after meeting the Cobblers boss, he knew Sixfields was where he wanted to play his football.

"It all happened quite quickly," he said.

"Talks were ongoing for a couple of weeks but I got back from holiday last weekend, spoke to the Gaffer and wanted to get the deal done ASAP.

"Rob Page has been a massive influence on me coming here. He has showed a lot of faith in me, he has a lot of drive to take the club forward and that is why I'm here. This is a great move for me and I can't wait to get going.

"I have had a varied career so far but that's football. That's the nature of the beast. I find myself back to the place where I made my league debut for Cambridge and to come back here and play for Northampton means a great deal. Hopefully I can help the football club carry on the success they had last season, which was a wonderful effort.

"Momentum is an amazing thing and if we can carry on from last year and add to that then we can have a good season, even at the higher level.

"There are a lot of similarities here to Rotherham when I was there. We had players who understood each other and were willing to run through brick walls for each other. We had an intent to win games and although we were one of the favourites to go down, we proved a lot of people wrong. There is some difference between League 2 and League 1 but the gap isn't massive and we must look to carry on what the boys did last season.

"I already know some of the lads in the dressing room, Ryan Cresswell and Jason Taylor from my days at Rotherham, and I also know David Buchanan. I can't wait to get going, it has been an exciting close season for me, now it is about enjoying myself, working hard and doing my best for Northampton Town.

"I want to enjoy some of the success here that we had at Rotherham. It came about through hard work and that is what we will be doing here.

"I did have plenty of other offers but from speaking to the manager here I knew this was the place I wanted to come."
