Cobblers boss delighted to have recruited young left back
Rob Page says the club have signed a player with a lot of potential in Raheem Hanley.
The former Swansea City left back will join the squad from July 1st and as well as being a player for the future, Rob Page says he can also challenge David Buchanan for his place.
"Raheem is an energetic left back who loves to get forward and he has a lot of potential," said the Cobblers boss.
"Like Aaron Phillips over the other side of the pitch he is young, ambitious and has a lot of potential and he brings competition for places.
"It is up to the boys in pre-season to show me what they can do so we are ready and prepared for the first game of the season. Raheem has stiff competition to try and get past David Buchanan but neither of them can relax, they will compete with each other and that will be for the benefit of the team.
"We felt we wanted two young, hungry full backs with potential competing for places and we are delighted to have brought both Raheem and Aaron here in the last couple of weeks.
"Raheem has been involved with Swansea City for a few years. He has just finished with their under 21s and we spoke to the Swansea staff and they were very complimentary about him. Had he been a year younger and still qualified for their under 21s we think they would have kept him but he is too old for that squad now and they feel he isn't quite ready for the Premier League but that will hopefully be our gain."
