Cobblers bring in former Barnsley midfielder

Highly rated young midfielder Jak McCourt has signed a 2 year contract with Northampton Town, effective from July 1st.
McCourt, who turns 21 early next month, started his career at Leicester City and enjoyed loan spells at Torquay United and Port Vale. He moved to Barnsley for an undisclosed fee in January and played for the Reds in the League 1 play off semi final win over Walsall last month.
"Jak is a player I have worked with before and I know what he is all about," said manager Rob Page.
"I think he will fit in well, he is a player with a lot of potential with a fantastic attitude and is someone who I think is very talented.
"He will provide competition in central midfield and has had a taste of playing at this level both at Port Vale and Barnsley and that will stand him in good stead.
"Both the signings today offer differences in terms of experience and age, but all of our signings will add something to the strong existing squad that will enable us to compete at League One."
