NORTHAMPTON TOWN SIGN DEFENDER AARON PHILLIPS

3 June 2016

Cobblers bring in former Coventry City defender

Northampton Town are pleased to announce they have signed defender Aaron Phillips on a two year contract.

The 22 year old right back made 61 appearances for Coventry City, including 26 appearances last season for the Sky Blues.

Leamington born Phillips, who was a popular figure with the Coventry City supporters, had been linked with a move to Sheffield United this summer, but he has signed on the dotted line at Sixfields.

"Aaron is a very welcome addition to the squad," said manager Rob Page.

"He is a young player with potential, but he also has a fair amount of experience in League 1 and that is important.

"He is a mobile full back with power and pace and plays with his heart on his sleeve. He will be here to battle with Brendan Moloney and the two of them should be able to drive each other on and that can only benefit the team.

"The players who are already here did really well last season, our recruitment this summer is about adding depth, competition and quality to help and strengthen a very good group and Aaron fits the bill perfectly."
