Midfielder excited by Sixfields challenge

Former Barnsley midfielder Jak McCourt says he can't want to get pre-season under way later this week.

“This is a great club to join and I can’t wait to get started,” he said ahead of the players reporting back for training on Friday.

“You can tell the ambition that the club has got and it was an easy decision for me to come here.

“I know the Gaffer well here, I was with him at Port Vale and I’m delighted to be here now.

“I’ve got a good relationship with the Gaffer, he showed faith in me when he signed me from Leicester and now he’s shown even more faith in me by bringing me here.

“Paul Wilkinson was at Barnsley towards the end of last season so I know him a bit as well and it’s a big bonus coming into a football club knowing both the Gaffer and Wilko.

“I know Adam Smith from my time at Leicester and I just can’t wait to meet the rest of the lads and get started.

“I see myself as a box to box midfielder but I can also do the holding role if that’s what the Gaffer wants me to do. I like to get on the ball and play some football.”
