Cobblers boss on pre-season, Jack McCourt and player recruitment

Cobblers boss Rob Page previews Tuesday night’s pre-season friendly against Wolves with kick-off at Sixfields 7.30pm.

“It’s been a productive pre-season so far and we’ve got another two fantastic games coming up this week,” he said.

“There are some big clubs in League One this season and Wolves will be another good test for us. These are the occasions you relish as a player and it’s always great to test yourself against teams in a higher division.

“Defensively we were outstanding against QPR but if I’m being hyper critical we could have done a little bit better with the ball and that’s something I will be looking for a bit of an improvement on.

Page has meanwhile confirmed that Jack McCourt’s shoulder injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

“Jack had a dislocated shoulder and we thought initially that he would be out for around four months.

"We’ve decided not to go down the surgery route and if everything continues to go well hopefully we will have him fit and raring to go within a month.

“We’ve picked up a few little niggles in pre-season but we should have a couple of players back later this week and then hopefully another two before Fleetwood.

“We have still got some work to do with the squad and I would like another two or three bodies in.

“The only business we will be doing now is adding to the squad but we have to be patient and I will wait as long as I can to get the right players in.”
