NTFC took on NTFC as the Cobblers travelled to Conference North side Nuneaton Town for their second pre-season friendly.
Rob Page once again named a separate side in each half with goalkeeper Adam Smith making his first appearance in pre-season after missing the game at Sileby as a precaution.
A number of academy players were also handed a run out by Page while ex-Cobblers players Kelvin Langmead, Sam Warburton and Dean Snedker all featured for Nuneaton, managed by former Sixfields boss Kevin Wilson.
A 30-yard drive from Aaron Phillips was tipped around the post by Zeus De la Pas in the Cobblers first sight at goal. Sam Hoskins fired just wide after a good solo run down the right while from a Nuneaton corner, Sam Warburton saw a shot blocked.
The home side took the lead just after the half hour mark, Shaq McDonald finishing from 8-yards after Colby Bishop capitalised on a loose ball in the Cobblers defence.
As the first half neared its conclusion, Marc Richards went close to scoring an equaliser, heading narrowly over the bar.
Unfortunately the game had to end prematurely on the 88th minute after Jak McCourt picked up a nasty looking injury after a clash in his own penalty area. He was back on his feet after lengthy treatment and we await an update on the injury.
