JAK McCOURT NEEDS SURGERY ON SHOULDER INJURY

14 July 2016

Midfielder to be missing for a couple of months

Northampton Town midfielder Jak McCourt requires surgery on the shoulder he injured at Nuneaton Town on Tuesday night and is likely to be missing for a couple of months.

An x-ray revealed McCourt didn't suffer any broken bones but after an MRI scan and advice from a specialist, McCourt will undergo an operation.

"It isn't great news, we have spoken to the specialist who has reviewed the scan and Jak needs an operation to reduce the chances of such an injury happening again in the future," said manager Rob Page.

"I am gutted for the lad. It was one of things, it wasn't anyone's fault, it was an impact injury and all we can do now is work with Jak to get him fit and ready as soon as possible.

"We have given him a few days off to spend with his family before he has the surgery early next week.

"He is a strong boy, a tough character, and I know he will come through this set back stronger but it is a blow for us and for Jak."
