POTTER A DOUBT FOR BARNET AS COBBLERS BOSS CONFIRMS CLUB ARE 'ACTIVE' IN TRANSFER TALKS

All the team news ahead of Northampton Town v Barnet

Chris Wilder is waiting on the fitness of Alfie Potter but has hinted he may make changes anyway to freshen up the side for the visit of Barnet on Saturday.

"We might make changes," he confirmed.

"Players have to play well to keep the shirts and we weren't on top of our game on Monday. There won't be any knee jerk reactions but the players understand they are part of a squad and they can't rest on previous performances. We have a good squad, we looking to add, and we have some top players not starting at the moment. They are ready to step in, we have a busy schedule coming up and they will all play a part. We have got some midweek games coming up and it is important all the players are ready.

"We are in talks with some transfer targets, I don't think we will have anyone in before the weekend but we are active at the moment. We feel we need to add. It is a difficult one, we need to strengthen but don't want to upset the balance so anyone we do bring in will have to be the right players who improve us and who fit into the spirit we have. It is a tricky window for us but we are looking to get it right.

"Alfie Potter had a niggle in his rib cage and but we have Ricky Holmes, Jason Taylor, Sam Hoskins and Dominic Calvert-Lewin who have all been bright in training this week. Jason Taylor has been knocking on my door, desperate to get back in the team. I'm delighted with that, I don't want players to be happy on the bench. The team has done well and the other players need to understand that, but I want them desperate to try and get back in."
