NORTHAMPTON TOWN SIGN LEE MARTIN ON A MONTH'S LOAN FROM MILLWALL

Cobblers add Lions midfielder to the squad

Northampton Town have signed Millwall midfielder Lee Martin on a month's loan.

The 28 year old Martin joined Millwall in June 2013 after his contract with Ipswich Town expired. Lee, who can play on either flank or through the middle, prospered under the management of Ian Holloway and played a major part in Millwall's escape from relegation at the end of the 2013/14 campaign; displays which earned him a new two-year deal soon after.

He was again a prominent figure throughout the 2014/15 campaign, making 29 appearances. This season he has appeared 11 times for the Lions.

As well as Ipswich and Millwall, he has also represented Manchester United, Rangers, Stoke City, Sheffield United, Plymouth Argyle, Nottingham Forest, Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic in his career.

"Lee is a welcome addition to the squad in a busy and important part of the season," said manager Chris Wilder.

"We have games coming thick and fast at the moment and Lee adds to what we have. He fits in well with the style we play, he is fit and ready to go and he gives us a boost after we said goodbye to Chris Hackett this week.

"He has an excellent pedigree having played a lot of his football at Championship or League 1 level and we are delighted to welcome a player of Lee's calibre in to the squad."
