The Cobblers boss on MK Dons 3 Northampton Town 0

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder reflecting on Tuesday night’s FA Cup third round replay defeat at MK Dons.

“We are disappointed with ourselves first and foremost because we didn’t give them enough problems but for a couple of key decisions on the night it could have been a different result,” he said.

“We felt the goal we scored should have stood and for their first penalty the foul was outside the box.

“MK Dons upped their game tonight and they were the better team but from looking like we had gone 1-0 up we were then 1-0 down and that made it difficult for us.

“They showed us a lot of respect in the team that they picked and we didn’t quite hit the standards that we can do.

“When we took the handbrake off a bit in the second half we caused them a few problems but we were already 2-0 down by that point.

”We have to move on quickly, we’ve got a massive game against Morecambe on Saturday and I’d love to see another sell out.”
