The Cobblers boss on Plymouth Argyle 1 Northampton Town 2

Boss Chris Wilder praised his players as he reflected on Tuesday night’s 2-1 away win at league leaders Plymouth, with the Cobblers, who have a game in hand on Argyle, now only off the top of Sky Bet League 2 on goal difference.

“I thought it was a deserved result,” he said.

“Conditions were tough, the pitch wasn’t great but we handled absolutely everything that was chucked at us tonight and I’m delighted with the win.

“Our general play was excellent, we dominated possession and I’d have been disappointed if we hadn’t come away with three points.

“It was a tough test for us tonight against the league leaders but it was important that we got a result.

“We really appreciate the backing we got from our supporters, it’s a long journey for them but hopefully they are going home happy.”
