CHAIRMAN NOT GETTING CARRIED AWAY - 'WE FOCUS ON NEXT FOUR IMPORTANT GAMES'

12 January 2016

Kelvin Thomas expects half season ticket sales to increase but says club will focus fully game by game

Chairman Kelvin Thomas says that while he is delighted with the excitement created by Monday's Emirates FA Cup 4th round draw for Northampton Town or MK Dons, the full focus of everyone at Sixfields will be on the next four important games.

On Monday evening, the draw handed the winners of the replay between Milton Keynes Dons and the Cobblers a home tie against Premier League champions Chelsea.

Before next Tuesday's replay though, the Cobblers have important league games against Plymouth Argyle and Dagenham & Redbridge, with a visit from Morecambe after the replay.

"It is an exciting draw for the replay winners but the reality is we have some important games before we even think about that," he said.

"As a club we can't look beyond the next few games and the replay. That is our focus. Fans can dream and get carried away but we can't."

Should the Cobblers progress, half season ticket holders will have their seats reserved for the fourth round tie, and the Chairman says he expects to see a spike in half season ticket sales ahead of the replay.

"We expect sales of half season tickets to increase now, even before the replay, because half season ticket holders will have their seats reserved should we get through," he said.

"The ticket office staff have been great through these busy times and we know this huge demand will continue so we will plan to deal with that demand as best we can.

"The fans can dream, there's no harm in that, and I would encourage anyone considering it to buy a half season  ticket. In any event they will be watching a promotion chasing side, but we as a club are taking things one game at a time and we face a really tough match away at the league leaders tonight."
