John-Joe O’Toole could return to the squad for Saturday’s trip to Hartlepool.
“John-Joe is getting better and we could possibly have risked him at York,” said boss Chris Wilder.
“With the games we’ve got coming up we didn’t want to take any risks and I thought Jason Taylor came in and did really well.
“Jason has been a little bit unfortunate to be out of the team and when he steps onto the pitch he always gives his all and makes really good decisions.
“We made some changes on Tuesday night and the players who came in did really well. We’ve got some really good players itching to play and these are tough decisions to make.”
