Ricky Holmes and Lee Martin replaced Nicky Adams and Lawson D’Ath for the game at Hartlepool with John-Joe O’Toole (sickness) not making the trip.

A good early run from Martin saw his shot, which took a deflection, saved by Trevor Carson while for Hartlepool Luke James flashed a shot across the face of goal having been fed in by Billy Paynter.

Nearly half an hour in and the Cobblers were forced into making a change in defence with Luke Prosser making his debut, coming on for Rod McDonald, who left the field with a bloody nose after receiving a blow to the head.

Both sides were getting themselves into some good positions but failing to work the goalkeepers as the first half ended goalless.

James Collins had a shot saved by Carson on 64 minutes before a quick break from the home side lead to a Paynter effort being deflected behind.

Lawson D’Ath came on for Lee Martin midway through the second half as the game remained in the balance.

Paynter headed straight at Adam Smith late on but the game was to end in stalemate, the 0-0 draw bringing to an end the Cobblers remarkable ten-match winning run.
