DEADLINE DAY 2016: EVAN HORWOOD JOINS GRIMSBY TOWN ON LOAN FOR REST OF THE SEASON

1 February 2016

Defender makes loan move to Blundell Park

Northampton Town left back Evan Horwood has joined Vanarama National League side Grimsby Town on loan until the end of the season.

Horwood arrived at Sixfields, originally on loan in March 2014, before signing a 2 year contract that summer.

He made 34 appearances for the Cobblers, but has struggled to make an impact this season.

"This is a good move for all parties," said manager Chris Wilder.

"Evan turns 30 next month and he wants and needs to be playing games at this stage of his career.

"Because of the excellent form of David Buchanan he hasn't been able to do that for us this season, so this move gives him the chance to go and play first team football and we wish him well."
