Under 11s take part in prestigious tournament
Some of the Northampton Town Academy U11 squad travelled up to Everton’s prestigious Academy on Saturday after being invited to take part in the Finch Farm Cup. The other teams involved were 4 of the most productive Academies in the country with Everton, Sheffield United, Derby County and Nottingham Forest all taking part.
The day started with a long journey made worse by the closure of the M6 meaning a nice detour round the North West of the country! However, the boys recovered quickly from the extended journey and once into the games they impressed with some individual displays and lots of hard work.
After a draw with Everton and narrow defeats to Sheffield United, Derby and Nottingham Forest, the boys enjoyed a look around some of the excellent facilities at Finch Farm. These experiences will live long in the memory of all of our young players. The day and in particular the invite, is a tribute to the development and improvement of the Academy in recent years.
Such improvement is down to many people, and our thanks are due to the part time coaching staff, parents and players who support the full time coaches and staff.
