WALKING FOOTBALL SQUAD PLAY IN DERBY FESTIVAL

12 December 2016

Cobblers squad represent club at Derby

The Northampton Town Football in the Community Trust entered a Walking Football Festival at Derby on Saturday. The team was made up from players who attend the walking football sessions on a Saturday morning at Thomas Becket School.

With the kind permission of the club, the players wore a donated Cobblers strip and played in a festival against seven other teams, including Derby, Reading and Middlesbrough.

Each team played seven games on a round robin basis and most games were very close. The Cobblers won one and drew three of their seven games which resulted in Northampton Town playing Middlesbrough in a 6th and 7th placed play off. The Cobblers won a nerve jangling penalty shoot-out and finished off, finishing the tournament in 6th place.

We had lots of positive feedback from all of the players and hopefully more festivals will be organised locally. The walking football sessions begin after Christmas on January 14 at Thomas Becket School each Saturday morning from 930am to 11am. Please email russell.lewis@ntfc.co.uk for more information.
