Rob Page named an unchanged side for the re-arranged Emirates FA Cup second round tie at Stourbridge, the original fixture nine days previous having been postponed due to a frozen pitch at the War Memorial Ground. Under 18s striker Joe Iaciofano was named on the bench.

Chris Lait fired just wide after a one-two with strike partner Luke Benbow as the home side carved out an early opening.

Lewin Nyatanga headed over from a Matt Taylor corner while it took a terrific save from David Cornell to keep out a Dan Scarr header on the half hour mark.

Cornell saved comfortably when Kayelden Brown maybe should have done better with a chance on 39 minutes, the non-league side continuing to pose a real threat. The first half ended with the Cobblers going close to opening the scoring however, Paul Anderson fizzing a shot narrowly wide from distance.

The cross bar saved the Cobblers ten minutes into the second half after a long throw caused the Cobblers defence problems while Cornell made another fine stop to tip over a header from Scarr.

Stourbridge keeper Matthew Gould made a good interception to deny Marc Richards as the Cobblers striker was almost in on goal. The Cobblers were enjoying a spell of pressure and it took a good block from a Stourbridge defender to deny Sam Hoskins at close range before Raheem Hanley replaced Paul Anderson.

The deadlock was broken on 86 minutes and it was the home side who took the lead, centre-back Jack Duggan getting the last touch from a free-kick.

Joe Iaciofano came on in stoppage time in place of Jak McCourt but the Cobblers couldn’t find an equaliser and it was the non-league side who progressed to play Wycombe Wanderers in round 3.
