CHAIRMAN LOOKS BACK ON THE LAST FEW WEEKS

21 December 2016

Kelvin Thomas - 'We’ve created an expectation here by doing so well in the last year and we’ve not lived up to that in the last couple of months'

Chairman Kelvin Thomas says that while he is disappointed with the run of recent results, it is important everyone at the club stays calm and controlled to redouble their efforts to get back on track.

“I’m obviously concerned with the results and you can’t get away from that but I’m possibly not as concerned as some because I’ve seen it all before and you sometimes go through these sort of periods," he said in an interview on YouTube earlier this week.

“We have had a tough run of games and we’ve got a tough set of fixtures coming up.

“We’ve got to be better and we’ve got to improve and this is an important time for us coming into January.

“We made a real impact last January in the transfer window and we need to do that again."

The Chairman recalled being at Sixfields in December 2014 when sections of the crowd turned on manager Chris Wilder in the middle of a run of eight defeats in 9 games as proof of the need to stay level.

“You go through difficult spells and you only have to look at Chris Wilder’s time here to see that there were some fans calling for his head after a bad run of results back at the end of 2014," he said.

“We’re not the type to panic and it’s not the way we are.

“We’ve created an expectation here by doing so well in the last year and we’ve not lived up to  that in the last couple of months."
