CHAIRMAN - 'WE WANT TO GET BACK TO OVER ACHIEVING'

22 December 2016

Chairman being realistic but remains ambitious

Chairman Kelvin Thomas says he feels the club have possibly overachieved at times in the past year, both last season and in the first two months of this season, but he wants to see the club overachieving again.

“We have to be realistic in terms of our expectations and maybe we’ve over achieved in certain areas and that has raised expectation levels," he said.

"By that I mean both by the way we won the league last year and got into the play off positions in the first couple of months of this season, but we want to do that again.

“It’s easy to say we’ve got to work hard but that’s what we’ve got to do.

“We know results need to improve but we are not a million miles off.

“Rob is disappointed with the way things have gone in the last few weeks and he is as frustrated as anyone.

“There is still a good spirit in the group and everyone wants to turn it around.

“We are lacking a bit of confidence and that shows but things do take time.

“We’re not happy being a mid-table side and we want to kick on but if you look purely at budgets we are probably in and around the right position.

“It’s not all about money but you have to be realistic.

“League One is a step up, it’s going to be tight and results are going to be a bit up and down but we will do all we can to get back to over achieving as soon as possible."
