Rob Page previews Charlton Athletic v Northampton Town

Cobblers boss Rob Page says the trip to The Valley will be a real test as he previewed Saturday’s trip to Charlton.

“It’ll be a tough game but we can certainly take confidence from Tuesday’s performance,” he said.

“The way the boys defended the other night was outstanding and with Lewin (Nyatanga) coming into the squad now as well we have got real competition for places.

“Everybody knows that they have to perform consistently or there is someone else who can come in and take their place.

“I hope the fans give Ricky Holmes a good reception, he did a great job for this club and we know he is going to pose a threat but they have got a lot of good players.

“They are another big club and it’s another good test for us.

“We know what we are up against but it’s about us making sure that we replicate the same level of performance. We need to defend like we did on Tuesday night and if we maintain the same work rate then we are confident.

“If we meet those standards that we’ve set and get to the standards that we want then I’ve always said that we will win more games than we will lose.”
