ROB PAGE APOLOGISES AFTER CHECKATRADE TROPHY DEFEAT

30 August 2016

Rob Page reflects on Northampton Town 0 Wycombe Wanderers 3

Cobblers boss Rob Page said sorry to the supporters as he reflected on Tuesday night’s Checkatrade Trophy defeat against Wycombe Wanderers.

“It’s a disappointing night and I’d like to apologise to the supporters who came,” he said.

“The performance wasn’t acceptable and the goals we gave away were really disappointing to say the least.

“We’ve been solid throughout this season but tonight Wycombe didn’t have to work hard for their goals.

“I thought Raheem Hanley looked positive when he came on but he needs to work on his end product.

“We are all bitterly disappointed tonight but it’s how you react to defeats that is important and we go again now on Sunday."

The transfer window closes on Wednesday night and Page is hoping to add to his squad before the 11pm deadline.

“Tomorrow is going to be a busy day I think and hopefully we will have some news.

“We’d like to get a couple of players in but that will depend on other clubs as well.

“We definitely need one in.

“If we have any enquiries about our players then of course we will listen but we want to improve the squad and make the club stronger.”
