ROB PAGE AIMING FOR EFL CUP PROGRESS

9 August 2016

Rob Page previews Barnsley v Northampton Town

Cobblers boss Rob Page says he is expecting a tough examination in Tuesday night’s EFL Cup first round tie away at Barnsley.

“We know what Barnsley are all about and I thought they were the story in League 1 last season,” he said.

“They will be a good outfit but it’s a good challenge for us as well and you want to test yourself against Championship opposition.

“It will give us a benchmark as to where we are and we will see how we can compete with a Championship side.

“The boys are looking forward to the challenge and we are looking forward to the test.

“I was pleased with the players' effort and application on Saturday, our delivery into the box could have been a bit better at times but there were a lot of positives not least the intensity of our play.

“That intensity is something we want to take into future games and ultimately football is all about winning. It doesn’t always have to be pretty but I still want to see good habits.

“We pride ourselves in hard work and it’s important that whatever the result we always put a good shift in.”
