Cobblers boss Rob Page gave an honest assessment after Saturday’s goalless draw with AFC Wimbledon.
“It was a poor performance and the only positives are a clean sheet and another point on the board,” he said.
“We need to do better in the final third and we didn’t switch the play enough. 50% of the team were off their game and you can’t carry that.
“I threw Rico (Marc Richards) in the deep end today because he’s not been able to train. We need another option up top and we are working really hard on bringing that player in.
“No disrespect to Wimbledon but we need to be winning games like today.
“There are lessons we need to learn from today and the sooner we do that the better.”
