Football League Youth Alliance action
Northampton Town’s under 18s travelled to Newport County on Saturday in the Football League Youth Alliance Merit Division.
Despite goals from Joe Iaciofano, Ethan Lamptey and a Shaun McWilliams penalty, the Cobblers were beaten 4-3 in their penultimate league fixture of the season.
“It was a disappointing performance,” said Lead Foundation Coach Mark Lyons.
“We didn’t maintain the standards that we’ve set ourselves in recent weeks and that’s why we lost the game.”
