JOHN-JOE O'TOOLE ON SKY BET PLAYER OF THE MONTH SHORTLIST

5 April 2016

Cobblers midfielder on the shortlist for monthly honour

John-Joe O'Toole has been named on the shortlist for the Sky Bet League 2 player of the month.

The full shortlist is below, and the winners will be announced at 6am on Friday. The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.

Jake Carroll (Hartlepool United) - full-back
The Irishman was part of a defence which kept four clean sheets to end March. His positional sense and confident play in possession saw him go forward to impressive effect with a headed goal against Dagenham & Redbridge and two assists.

John-Joe O’Toole (Northampton Town) – midfielder
Four goals in March for the dynamic midfielder. Having begun the season on the transfer list, he has returned to the fold to become a vital cog in Northampton’s promotion charge. Controls the midfield and a threat going forward.

Kemar Roofe (Oxford United) – striker
Difficult to categorise positionally and even harder to mark, the 23-year-old played just behind the main striker in March and caused havoc across the front line with his pace and trickery. An assist and five goals, including a hat-trick against Dagenham.

Matty Taylor (Bristol Rovers) - striker
A third nomination this season for the striker who was in irresistible form with eight goals in seven games. His movement and ability to score all types of goals was illustrated by his perfect hat-trick in the 4-1 victory over Hartlepool United.
