The Cobblers boss on Northampton Town v Bristol Rovers
A win on Saturday and regardless of results elsewhere, Northampton Town will be promoted. They might not even need that win, depending on those other results, but Chris Wilder is pleased to see his team's destiny under their own control, a remarkable position to be in with six games of the season to play.
“What you want is for it to be in your own hands and we are in a position where if we get the result we want then we are promoted,” said he said.
“I don’t think we have been at our free flowing best in the last month but we have shown other qualities that are needed to win games of football.
“We always want to play to the best of our ability but we are producing results at the most crucial time.
“It would be nice to get over the line here in front of our own fans because we have definitely got a connection between the supporters and the players.
“We are in a strong position to finish the job that we all set out to do, we wanted to be the best team in the division and the players are so determined to prove that they are the best team in the division over 46 games.
“If we get the result on Saturday it won’t stop, we want to get over the line and we want to finish the season on the front foot.”
