CHAIRMAN THANKS EXETER, TALKS ABOUT THE TITLE, PRAISES NORTHAMPTON BOROUGH COUNCIL AND DISCUSSES CELEBRATION PLANS

19 April 2016

Kelvin Thomas also delighted with rate of season ticket sales

Chairman Kelvin Thomas has been speaking about winning the League 2 title, plans for an open top bus celebration, his gratitude to Exeter City, season ticket sales and more in a 12 minute Cobblers PlayerHD interview.

You can watch the full interview here, but some of the key points covered are below:

GRATITUDE TO EXETER CITY
"We must say thanks to everyone at Exeter. It was pure class the way they handled things last Saturday. It can be uncomfortable celebrating on someone else's pitch, but the way they dealt with things was really good and we are very grateful. They understood how much it meant to us and on behalf of the club a big thank you to everyone at Exeter City."

OPEN TOP BUS PLANS
"The Council have very generously offered us the chance of an open top bus tour and plans are being drawn up. It will be a huge celebration, plans are being made for Sunday May 8th and we are looking at it taking place late in the afternoon to allow everyone who is staying over the chance to come home from Portsmouth. I have asked for two buses, so that we can have a bus for the players and behind that a staff bus, because the staff are very much part of this. We have looked at paying tribute to the staff on a matchday but that can have challenges because the staff have responsibilities on a matchday, so we feel this second bus would be an important part of the celebration. It would be a fitting finale to a wonderful season."

THANK YOU TO THE BOROUGH COUNCIL
"The pride in the club has been superb, the goodwill, support and affection shown has been enormous. The Saints and the Steelbacks have both been in touch to say well done and some of the first people to congratulate us were Mary Markham and David Kennedy from the Borough Council. It shouldn't be underestimated the part the Council played in keeping the club alive. The decisions they took at that time, brave decisions, have been fully justified in what the club have achieved since."

SEASON TICKET SALES
"Sales are excellent and they are not slowing down. People are realising what is happening here, the town is excited and supporters are excited. There will be some huge games on the fixture list next season and supporters are realising that tickets are going to be at a premium for many games and that is creating a rush. If anyone is on the fence and undecided, now is the time to buy your season ticket and be part of things next season. "
