The Cobblers boss on Northampton Town v Dagenham & Redbridge
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder felt his side lost belief as he reflected on Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Dagenham.
“For half an hour we were the better side but then we gave away two awful goals and then we seemed to lose a lot of heart and belief,” he said.
“One or two of our players severely lost confidence in themselves and when that happens it hurts the team. Ultimately we all have to take responsibility and this was a game we should have won.
“We huffed and puffed in the second half but we need to move the ball quicker and be braver. Adam Smith has had far too much to do today and if I’m honest he kept us in the game.
“The players need to man up a bit, people have to step up to the mark and take responsibility for their own performances.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do on the training ground this week, we need a win to get us going again and but for the first half an hour the last two home games haven’t been good enough.”
