The Cobblers boss on Northampton Town v Oxford United

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder says a high profile local derby visit from Oxford United.

“I think it’s the perfect game for us,” he said.

“It’s a great game, Oxford are going well and I’m sure they will come here fancying their chances but this is a crackers league and on any given day any result is possible.

“There will be a great atmosphere and the players will have to rise to the challenge and the occasion.

“We really want to get ourselves going again and we know that we owe ourselves and the supporters a performance and a result.

“It’s still early days in the season and we are still learning and looking for that consistency. I don’t think we are too far away, we just need to make sure that we cut out the silly mistakes and that we punish teams when we are on top.

“I’m confident and positive about our approach and with the way we want to play football. We set out to play in a certain way and we are going for games. We have to be braver in possession and show our quality but we will keep being positive in our approach.”
