The Cobblers boss on Northampton Town v Colchester United
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder was happy as he reflected on Tuesday night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first round 3-2 win against Colchester United.
“I was really pleased with the performance and it was a great effort tonight,” he said.
“Football is all about winning and we’ve knocked a team out of the cup from a higher division and that can’t be underestimated.
“There were a lot of good individual performances tonight and we played with a real energy and aggression.
“ We moved the ball around well and I was pleased to see us getting back to some of the things we were doing well at the start of the season.
“Dominic Calvert-Lewin was excellent, Paul Corry made his first start and he will only improve and Alfie Potter had his best competitive game for the club.
“This is a big week for us and we now move on to another big game against Dagenham.”
