The Cobblers boss on Cambridge United 2 Northampton Town 1
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder reflecting on Saturday’s narrow 2-1 loss at Cambridge.
“We are disappointed not to have rewarded an unbelievable support with a positive result,” he said.
“We got ourselves back into the game with the penalty but all the players then just got too over excited and there was still half an hour to go.
“We started rushing our play and we didn’t control the ball well enough. We tried to force things when we needed to be patient and if we had have been I’m sure we would have created openings.
“The sending off, which I’ve got no complaints about at all, then made it difficult for us and we had a mountain to climb.
“The commitment that the players and supporters are giving me is first class but we just need to make sure that we deal with pressure points in games better. Hopefully we will learn from today and we move on pretty quickly.”
