CHRIS WILDER - 'WE CAN HOLD OUR HEADS HIGH'

30 October 2015

The Cobblers boss ahead of Newport County v Northampton Town

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder says he is determined to keep the focus on this Saturday’s trip to Newport County, despite all of the off the field issues surrounding the club at the moment.

“The main event this week is ensuring that the football club survives,” he said.

“All we can do is keep doing our job but hopefully the right decision will be made and if we do get through this period there will be a bright future.

“That’s the bigger picture, this football club has got a proud history, it’s been here for a long time and hopefully it will be here a long time after we’ve all gone.

“All we can do at the moment is keep doing our job and it’s another tough game for us on Saturday.

“We’d love to finish the month off in good fashion, it’s been an excellent month for us in terms of points and performances and we really can put the icing on the cake if we go and get a result on Saturday.

“I know John Sheridan really well and he is an outstanding manager at this level. They will be bouncing on the back of two great results but we will go there full of confidence.

“We’d like to defend a little bit better and I’m sure we will do but as we’ve talked about we are going for games and that can sometimes leave us a little bit open.

“We are going for wins, that’s the way we are set up and we are not going to change that.

“Everybody is working extremely hard, players and staff and I think we can all hold our heads up high with the way we have gone about things.

“Perversely what’s gone on seems to have bought the players and the supporters closer together and the players deserve an unbelievable amount of praise for the way they have kept their focus.”
