ALAN KNILL - 'THINGS AREN'T GREAT HERE AT THE MOMENT BUT WE ARE DIGGING IN'

The Cobblers assistant boss on Coventry City v Northampton Town

Cobblers assistant boss Alan Knill previews Saturday’s FA Cup first round tie at Coventry City.

“It’s a great opportunity for us and we are going to put a team out that we believe can go to Coventry and win,” he said.

“Coventry are a good side and they are going well but it’s a great game for us and we can approach it full of confidence. I think we are a good side too and we all believe we can go there and cause an upset.

“Nobody expects us to beat Coventry but we can go there and play with some freedom and have a real go at them.

“The FA Cup is still a great competition and you always want to play the bigger teams. For clubs at our level the prize money is really good and it can make such a difference.

“Off the field we all know that things aren’t great here at the moment but you just have to dig in. Players and staff are all in the same position and I think situations like this tend to bring everybody closer together.

“In the long term hopefully the club will be in a position to pay everything but we can’t effect that, all we can do is keep trying to be entertaining and give people something and a team to believe in. That’s what we are trying to do and hopefully the rest will take care of itself.”
