LEE COLLINS SET TO MISS WYCOMBE CLASH

1 May 2015

All the team news ahead of Northampton Town v Wycombe Wanderers

Lee Collins (medial ligament) is set to miss the Cobblers final game of the 2014/15 season against Wycombe.

Marc Richards (Achilles) is however pushing for a start on Saturday.

“We will be putting our strongest team out and we want to finish the season on a high,” said boss Chris Wilder.

“Marc has had another week’s training and he will most probably start.

“We had to make a decision with Marc on Saturday and after talking to the player and the medical staff we made the decision not to start him.

“We made that decision and if he’d started and played for 65-75 minutes it would have taken him into a pretty dangerous area in terms of reoccurrence of his injury.

“Lee Collins is struggling for Saturday, he took a big bang just before half-time at Burton and that was the reason he came off."

The Cobblers boss also confirmed that all contract talks have been put on hold with the focus fully on getting a result against Wycombe.

“I’m not dealing with any more contracts this week and my full focus is on Saturday," he said.

“We sorted a couple of contracts last week because we thought the timing was right to do that. We had to deal with Jason and Joel quickly because there was big interest from other clubs, since January they have been pivotal in our upturn in fortunes and it was important we got those two done.”
