LADIES UNDER 18S COMPLETE TREBLE

26 May 2015

Youngsters overcome Northampton Spencer

The Northampton Town Ladies under 18s successfully completed their treble last Saturday afternoon after winning the League Cup with a 5-1 win over Northampton Spencer.

The final started with both teams looking to attack and score the first goal, Spencer had a great chance to take the lead after their striker broke through one on one with Cobblers stand in keeper Alice Fitt (regular stopper Erica Turner was cup tied) but Alice made a great save and pushed the effort wide.

The Cobblers took the lead 20 minutes in when Cesca Partridge did well to find space in the penalty area and find the net. Abi Shocklidge then hit a superb 20 yard strike into the top corner to make it 2-0, Amy Marshall scored in the 40th minute when after a great run down the right wing she cut in and scored from 12 yards out to give the Cobblers a 3-0 lead at half time.

In the second half Northampton Town controlled the game and added two more goals through Eleanor Coles and Cesca Partridge added her second of the game. Northampton Spencer scored a late consolation in the 85th minute.

Team: Alice Fitt, Saraya Phillips, Georgia Wykes, Steph Knight, Eden Brown, Abi Shocklidge, Georgia Tear, Poppy Bignell, Emma Lewthwaite, Cesca Partridge, Amy Marshall
