The Cobblers boss on Bury v Northampton Town
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder reflecting on Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Bury.
“I’m disappointed but I’ve got to give a lot of credit to the opposition,” he said.
“The sending off galvanised them and the reaction from Bury was that of a promotion winning team.
“After the sending off we should have gone on to win the game but we thought we could just canter home and you can’t do that.
“To get a result here would have sent out a really big statement but our second half performance was the sort of performance that only gets you mid-table obscurity.
“We didn’t do enough today, we should have taken the game away from Bury after the sending off but we gave away too many free-kicks and credit to them they showed the determination to get back into the game.
“It is a missed opportunity and we have to go again. We’ve got it in us to put another winning run together but this week has hurt us.”
