CHRIS WILDER SAYS PLAYERS CAN EXPECT TO WORK HARD

The Cobblers boss on ahead of the start of pre-season training

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder says that the players can expect to work hard when pre-season resumes on Monday.

“The players are back in on Monday and it’s going to be tough,” he said.

“The message to the players is that we are going to work harder and longer and we will be trying to get the maximum out of it.

“We are starting back earlier than the majority of clubs and it’s important that we don’t over train but we certainly won’t be under training.

“We need to give the players a really good base to tackle a 50 plus game season, we are going to run with a tight group but a durable group and we need to keep injuries down to an absolute minimum.

“I think the fans have seen the changes that we’ve made over the last 18 months, it’s my squad now and I’m positive and enthusiastic about the future.

“We will have to work extremely hard because nothing is given to you in this game but we feel that this is a club going forward, we’ve improved and we want to keep improving.

“We want to be successful, it’s a tough league but I think it will be an open competition and we want to be up there competing.”
