The Cobblers boss on the new fixture list and Capital One Cup draw
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder has been reflecting on the fixture list and the Capital One Cup first round draw.
Town travel to Bristol Rovers on the opening day before hosting Blackpool in the first round of the cup.
“Bristol Rovers is a cracking game and I’m not that disappointed that we are away from home first up,” he said.
“I know from my time at Oxford that the first game for a club back in the Football League is special and I’m sure it’s a game that they will be really looking forward to.
“I’m sure it will be a full house and our fans will travel in numbers as we always do.
“It should be a great occasion, they will be competitive, we will definitely be competitive and I think its all set up for an attractive opening day fixture.
“When the fixtures come out it really hits home that the season isn’t too far away and we are all looking forward to what is hopefully going to be an exciting and successful campaign.
“It’s a great draw for us in the Capital One Cup and most importantly it’s a home tie.
“It’s a game we can look forward to and give it a go. The mind set from the group will be to try and win every game we play and we have to have that mentality right from the start of pre-season all the way through.
“The players we’ve already got like Marc Richards, Ryan Cresswell and Jason Taylor will help to drive that mentality forward and I think the players we’ve brought in have all got that mind set as well.”
