PRE-SEASON ATTITUDE PLEASES COBBLERS BOSS

28 July 2015

Chris Wilder delighted with the togetherness of the squad

Chris Wilder says he is pleased with the attitude and commitment shown by his squad as the pre-season campaign nears a conclusion.

"There is a week and a half to go we have a good squad with people putting their hands up to be involved," he said.

"We have a fully committed group, whether they start or come off the bench and they are all in the reckoning.

"Ricky Holmes should play on Friday but Brendan Moloney and Evan Horwood are a little further away. They are making good progress but Friday might just be a little too soon for them. We will get them back with the group soon and we are in decent shape.

"Tom Newey did well last year, he was unfortunate with an ankle injury which was unusual for Tom as he generally doesn't get injured very often and he needs to get himself fit. He has done rehad oer the summer and he is training with us at the moment.

"There has been some interest in Ivan Toney from Premier League and Championship clubs and we took the decision not to involve him at Brackley. If that interest progresses then we will deal with that, if not then he stays with us.

"All of our trialists have done well and we are speaking to them. They have impressed through pre-season, they are players who interest us, but we are in no rush and we will see where we go."
