The Cobblers boss on Northampton Town v Derby County
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder was pleased with Saturday’s pre-season game against Derby.
“I thought we were excellent, it was a real competitive game and we took a lot out of it,” he said.
“Derby are a top side with players who have played in the Premier League and it was a really good test for us but I thought we held our own and it was a good game played in a good spirit.
“We dropped off the pace a little bit in a couple of short periods but overall we put a lot of energy into the game, we missed a penalty and had some other good goalscoring opportunities.
“Our endeavour was good and we really pressed Derby and gave them some problems. When we had the ball we played some good stuff and I thought there were some good individual performances.
“We want to play a pressing game at a high tempo and we did that on Saturday.”
