NORTHAMPTON TOWN SIGN JASON TAYLOR

1 January 2015

Northampton Town have signed Cheltenham Town midfielder Jason Taylor on loan.

Northampton Town have signed Cheltenham Town midfielder Jason Taylor on loan.

27 year old, 6ft 1in Taylor started his career as a trainee with Oldham Athletic and tasted first team football for the first time on loan with Stockport County. He later signed for the Hatters on a permanent deal and went on to make over 100 appearances for County.

Taylor joined Rotherham United on a free transfer in January 2009 and made nearly 150 appearances for the Millers in four years. He had a spell at Rochdale on loan in the 2009-10 season and made over 20 appearances for the Dale as they won promotion.

He spent two years with Cheltenham, making 74 appearances.

"Jason is just what we need right now. He is a leader, an organiser, a winner, he gets his foot in and he pulls people around to get results. He is a fighter.

"We spoke about the need to add people who do the ugly side of the game well and Jason does that.

"We need to be harder to break down and Jason will add steel and aggression to the side in the middle of the park.

"He has had a lot of success with his previous clubs and we are delighted to bring him in."

The transfer window officially opens on Saturday morning. Only players signed on loan can be registered in time to play that day. Players not signed on loan forms won't be available until the following game.
