“We have had a good start to the New Year and we desperately want that to continue,” he said.
“Performances have improved and I thought we were excellent last Saturday.
“we are taking it game by game and we can’t afford to take a step back.
“Lawson and Ricky have given us energy but there have been good performances all over the park.
“I still think there is more to come from John-Joe O'Toole, ability wise he is up there we just want to get him round the pitch more.
“Newport are a tough team to play against and I’m sure they will come here wanting to show a reaction from a disappointing day at Cambridge on Saturday.
“They haven’t had many disappointing days this season which is why they are up there. They have had that consistency that we are all striving for and they were better than us on the day at their place even though we could have maybe snatched something at the death.”
