Although defender Ben Tozer has been ruled out for four to six weeks with a knee injury, Zander Diamond (hamstring) is set to return to the squad for Saturday’s game at Shrewsbury.
“Zander is coming on really well and he should be involved at the weekend," said boss Chris Wilder.
"Lewis Hornby also trained this week.
“It was great for Shaun McWilliams and Danny Clifton to be on the bench on Saturday and hopefully they enjoyed the experience.
“It’s a great experience for the younger players to be involved on a matchday and if we think they are good enough then we’re not afraid to put them on the pitch at the right time.
“We’ve spoken about the structure of the club and we want there to be that pathway for young players in the area or those who have maybe been released by Premier League clubs.”
