Special challenge to support new offer that will season ticket holders travel for £1 single to Sixfields on match days from anywhere within the Northampton Megarider Zone
To celebrate a brand new partnership between Stagecoach Midlands and Northampton Town Football Club, a number of Northampton Town players will undertake a series of special driving challenges in a Stagecoach bus at Sixfields on Thursday February 5th.
Stagecoach sponsored Lawson D'Ath and three of his team-mates will undergo the challenges under the guidance of Stagecoach instructors at the beginning of a partnership that will see Stagecoach be match sponsors for Northampton Town's game with Morecambe at Sixfields on Saturday February 7th as the Cobblers look to secure a fifth successive victory.
The Stagecoach Route 15 Driving Challenge is to mark the beginning of a new route 15 which will make it easier for supporters to get to Sixfields on a matchday. Route 15 will start on the 13th April running between Acre Lane, Kingsthorpe, Harborough Rd, town centre, Upton, Sixfields and St Crispins. The service will run every 20 minutes and will effectively combine the current 15 and 22 routes. This new cross town link is being introduced with partial, section 106 developer funding from Northampton Borough Council.
In addition, Stagecoach route 5 runs from Southfields and Weston Favell via the town centre and on to Sixfields while routes D1/D2/D3 come in from Daventry and Flore to Sixfields.
In addition a new promotion has been introduced as part of the partnership, whereby season ticket holders are able to travel for £1 single to Sixfields on match days from anywhere within the Northampton Megarider Zone. This offer will commence from the Northampton vs Morecambe match on 7th February.
Steve Burd, Managing Director said “We are delighted to work with Northampton Town Football Club on this project. One of the main requests from fans was for a link from Kingsthorpe to Sixfields. I am very pleased we have been able to positively respond to this demand with the help of Northampton Borough Council and Northamptonshire County Council. I am sure this new service will be of benefit to many fans.”
Northampton Town Chairman David Cardoza said, "We know supporters will really feel the benefit of this new service. Many have been telling us they would appreciate more bus services to Sixfields on a matchday and we are delighted to help Stagecoach promote this new service, which will make it far easier for supporters to get to Sixfields. The buses will run for both afternoon and evening games and this should be a real help to supporters.
"The driving challenge should be fun for the players, but I'm sure we will see their competitive streak come out!"
Footage from the challenge will be posted on the club's official YouTube channel and supporters will be encouraged to vote for their Stagecoach driving champion!
