CHRIS WILDER - 'WE GOT OURSELVES OUT OF JAIL'

5 December 2015

The Cobblers boss on Northampton Town 3 Northwich Victoria 2

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder was happy to see the name of Northampton Town in the hat for the  Emirates FA Cup third round draw after the second round win against Northwich Victoria on Saturday.

Northwich lead 2-0 with 7 minutes to go before goals from Sam Hoskins, Jason Taylor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin turned the game on its head.

“I’m delighted that we are through but first and foremost I’ve got to say that I’ve got huge respect for the opposition today,” he said.

“I think everybody recognises the performance Northwich put in, we knew it was going to be difficult and there is no doubt that their players and their manager should be at a higher level.

“Conditions weren’t great but we made two basic errors for their goals and at twenty to five we were on the end of a massive shock.

“We didn’t play well but we never gave up. The spirit was terrific and the players refused to lie down and be beaten.

“We’ve got out of jail today but that’s cup football and that’s what happens.”
